Star Among Stars Awards
The Star Among Stars program has been established to recognize VPP participants within Region VII with total case incidence rates (TCIR) and days away/restricted/transferred case incidence rates (DART) well below the BLS national average. All Star, Demonstration, Merit, and Conditional sites are eligible for the Recognition Program provided they meet the outlined requirements. Application acceptance has closed - awards will be presented on Wednesday, May 9th during the conference closing luncheon awards ceremony. |

Dale Randall Traveling Award
This award was established in 2006 in memory of Dale Randall who was the safety director for CF Industries. His career started not in safety but another department; but his dedication and commitment to safety was quickly recognized and the company moved him into a position of safety. Through his efforts, CF Industries has become a leader in safety with over 13 VPP sites. CF Industries is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of liquid nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers. Dale dedicated his life to raising safety awareness and always challenged others to do so. This award is given to honor his memory to companies who demonstrate the same qualities that Dale brought to the association and have an unwavering spirit of contribution, participation and dedication to the success of the VPP and the VPPPA. Recommendations for Region VII VPP businesses to be considered for this award are submitted by the Region VII VPP managers. The award recipient is determined by the Region VII VPPPA BOD. 1. Qualified Mentor on the Mentor Status Report:
-Led their site to VPP Status and/or
-Completed Mentor Workshop and/or
-SGE and/or
-Recommended by OSHA Representative and/or
-Recommended by Region VII BOD
2. Mentored Region VII Site(s) to VPP Status
3. Conduct Site visits
4. Nominated by Mentoring Chairperson and Consensus of Nomination by Region VII BOD

Scholarship Golf Fundraiser
The fifth annual scholarship golf fundraiser event was again a success. Thank you to all the participants. Also, thanks to our sponsors: Clow Valve, CA Short and Certified Safety Mfg. Congratulations to Clow Valve for shooting a 59 to capture the title. Also, an honorable mention to Randy Bickford who came within a couple of inches from a hole in one and winning a Camaro.
